About SteadyHeart Stories
The world doesn't need flawless girls.
It needs grounded ones.

- Meet Christy Slanaker -
I spent twenty years in high-performance environments building exactly the kind of confidence that looks real from the outside and costs everything from the inside. Achievement-based identity. Worth tied to output. The belief that excellent meant flawless.

I lost my mother at 27. Lost myself after losing my father at 36. Lost 100 pounds rebuilding. And somewhere in the rebuilding, I started wondering: what if I had the tools earlier? What if I learned at five that steadiness is braver than fearlessness or performance?

That's SteadyHeart Stories. Not therapy. Not a lesson plan. Stories for the girl who is learning what she's made of — before anyone gets the chance to tell her she isn't enough.

- Meet Lettuce -
BOOK 1: Lettuce Finds Her STOMP
Lettuce is a small green T-Rex with a big problem: she is supposed to have a big roar, and hers isn't loud enough. When emotions become overwhelming, she struggles to express herself. With the guidance of her family, Lettuce learns a quieter and braver way to manage her feelings. This journey of self-discovery and emotional regulation is beautifully captured in our first book, Lettuce Finds Her STOMP.
Lettuce's Friends
guide us through the The STOMP Method™ in each book
A simple five-step practice that helps young children move through big feelings, loud thoughts, and comparison moments. Designed for ages 4 to 8 and built to grow with them.
STOMP is my emotional regulation framework woven through every SteadyHeart story. Girls meet it in the characters' choices and actions. Parents and educators can use it directly at home, in classrooms, and in the moments when a child needs a way through a big feeling.

Five steps. Designed for children. Rooted in emotional intelligence and my own self-regulation research. Simple enough for a five-year-old to remember. Powerful enough to carry into adulthood.
